Our 20th anniversary isn’t until July 27th but we are celebrating a little early in Marco Island, FL. Blessed to have Teresa Earnest in my life for the past 27 years. She is beautiful inside and out.
Thinking of my Dad this Memorial Day weekend. Got our flag flying high just like he did every day. Thankful for his life and his service to our country during WW2. Missing him.
PEARL HARBOR DAY - 69 years ago today the attack on Pearl Harbor launched the United States into a brutal World War that resulted in an estimated 62-78 million deaths (over 400,000 Americans). Often referred to as “The Greatest Generation”, American men and women survived a Great Depression, fought and won World War 2, and came home from the war to build modern America. Approximately 850 of these veterans die every day. So, if you see a WW2 veteran today (or any other veteran) make sure you take the opportunity to express your appreciation for their service.
What Are Your Family Traditions?
I am looking forward to our yearly tradition of moving the TV and DVD player into the family room, throwing in the movie Elf,and putting up our Christmas tree. Of course, it takes us twice as long because we have to stop so many times to watch and quote all of our favorite parts.
Another tradition we have is The Advent Book, by Jack and Kathy Stockman. Each night we light some candles, the boys take turns reading from the book, and we pray for friends, family, and people that have sent us Christmas cards. Even though our boys are 13 and 11 they still look forward to this every year.
Traditions are opportunities to create lasting memories with your family and friends. We have a few traditions but I wish we would would have been much more intentional about building traditions into our family routine when our kids were younger. I guess it’s never too late too start. So, please take a moment to share a couple of your favorite family traditions?
P.S.
Christmas Reboot is a new ebook from Alan Danielson. It contains 25 devotional readings and activities that will will help your family experience Jesus in a meaningful way. Could be a new tradition. You can learn more and purchase and download this ebook by clicking HERE.
Our niece, Sarah Laws, right before her Thanksgiving program. Probably the cutest kindergarten student in Illinois. The missing teeth send the “cute meter” over the top.
